I.  RECONNECTING TO PREVIOUS KNOWLEDGE

II.  HISTORY ALIVE TEXT BOOK CHECK OUT

III.  USING TABLE OF CONTENTS TO GAIN INFORMATION
- peruse the table of contents and create a page (1-page only) list of facts
   learned from the titles and descriptions in the table of contents
   you can learn a lot by looking over a well-designed table of contents
- count out how many sections the book is divided into;
  have at least one fact from each section
- no more than one page of notes; that's it
