I. POETRY SCRAPBOOK
A. QUICK WRITE -- INTRODUCTION
- structured quick write (answer questions that teacher poses)
- brief overview of story and book (main character, setting, conflict, etc.)
- why you chose this book? what you knew about culture before hand.
- your reactions to story, main character, culture?
- lessons you learned, ah-ha moments, similarities you recognized,
change in attitude or understanding the book might have inspired...
B. MULTICULTURAL BOOK VOCABULARY #2 - LAST 2 CHAPTERS
- review last two chapters
- create a list of strong, powerful, colorful, challenging, culture specific, or unfamiliar words
- include page number
- same format as #1 w/ word, definition, and sentence in which word appears (w/ page #)
II. SBAC DAY 1
- everyone gets a reading and writing score
- Opt Out kids work on reading and writing skill building packet in library
