3/11/15 - WE

I.  HOMEWORK - review/discuss vocab
- review vocab week 14 packet; group work/discussion
- write several sentences using vocab words
- share sentences; hear, listen, speak


II. OUTSIDERS CHAPTER QUESTIONS
-review bRACE
- when answering questions:
         Build background, context for what's happening in the story
         Rewrite question into a statement
         Answer the question
         Cite facts, use quotes or paraphrasing to prove your answer
         Evaluate or analyse how answer impacts development or meaning in the story

-review chapter 9 questions in groups (we discuss MORE in groups)
* write short, small notes on Chptr questions to show answer ideas

- two pages of answers  for chapter 9 (Leave space - may have to catch up later)
* TEACHER-LED 2-page SAMPLE QUESTION (to number 21)
* not required, but modeling how much you COULD write on an answer


III.  OUTSIDERS Chapter 10
- read silently
- when finished, write a brief 1-2 paragraph summary of plot (1/2 page, maximum)
- continue with a page and 1/2 reflection/commentary/

__ think about/begin 2-3 notecards NON FICTION NOTECARDS

NON-FICTION NOTECARDS   (due by Mar 19)
- 1 bibliography card
- 20 note cards with (a) topic; (b) subtopic; (c) brief, easy-to-read notes; (d) source & page #
- do not need to be cut up (prefer you don't)
- take notes as if you were going to give a brief overview, speech, or write an essay on your topic
- practicing notecard design and choosing essential facts
- book is of your choice, although can be related to science fair project, too!
