reading/study strategy/speaking/fluency activity
I.  KNIGHTS- building background in chunks
- read card 1-2x quietly
- underline key words you'd have to use in a summary of information
- look at a word, cover it with you hand, try to use word in context
- after doing this for a few minutes, turn over entire card and try to say in your mind what card was
about (summarize/paraphrase), using as many words you underlined as possible
- share with person across from you your card's information (summarize or paraphrase)
- walk around room and share information with 15 different students (8 total diff. cards)
be sure to trade cards so the listener can look at your underlined words and see how
much you are sharing (they get to skim and scan)

use selective reading/highlighting strategies - determining important words/details
II.  KNIGHTS - reading time (SSR)
- continuing to build background on knights
- read packet on knights and BOX key words, UNDERLINE details
* just like castle packet (a highlighting/note taking strategy)

III.  KNIGHTS - video
- watch video on knights
- key word list (taking notes in order to write a 1-2 page expository essay)
- key words/details that would answer questions from our original brainstorming activity
