I.  HISTORY ALIVE GEOGRAPHY CHALLENGE #1  continued
- Using HA: Interactive Student Notebook, label map and answer questions
-  use Atlas maps, text maps, dictionaries, encyclopedias to answer questions
-  complete answers, thorough, rephrase question into answer
* map focuses students on area of study for the year and geography/terrain/locations, etc.

II.  Ancient Rome & Christianity - video notes (finish video)
-  video covers ancient Rome's decline and the rise of Christianity
- Christianity will be a major force of cohesion and development of emerging Europe
-  TAKE NOTES (students' decide on format) - key word list or Cornell Notes
* frequent pauses/explanations/discussions/questions (it's what I do)


reading/ highlighting and reading attack strategies
III.  CE:  TALIBAN (wikipedia article)
- bibliographic information - locate title, publisher, url address
* this was something that showed up missing in nearly all MIB's
- Brainstorm questions on topic (building purpose before reading)
- Model highlighting first paragraph, using questions to guide quest for information
- Continue to read and highlight silently
- share/read other student highlights to see what others are thinking/noticing
* Today marks the 8th anniversary of invading Afghanistan and ousting the Taliban.
* Who are the Taliban, Why are they, where are they, what is their goal, etc.?

IV.  OUTSIDERS chpt. 3 continued
-  Continue reading chapter three, as Ponyboy hangs out with Johnny in the lot and comes home late
-  consider frame of mind and what leads characters to make choices
-  code of honor: looking tough; yawning to cover up, etc.
- Cherry and social standing in school; can't be seen in school mixing with Greasers
