I.  read CHERYL CROW'S "REAL GONE" lyrics

               LYRICS WILL BE CUT TO FIT PAGE & "FLIP PAGE" TAPED
               YOUR ASSESSMENT/ANNOTATION ON LEFT-HAND SIDE
               RIGHT-HAND SIDE PAGE WILL STAY BLANK UNTIL WE COME BACK TO IT
                * ALL LYRICS WILL SHIFT IN MEANING ONCE WE SEE THE FILM, CARS
                    OUR RESPONSES SHOULD CHANGE

     A.      - read silently first
               - second time SSR, begin making annotation notes
                  what do you see?  notice?  words that suggest something? questions you have?
                  note literary devices or techniques
                  who is speaking? what's going on?  what's the song about?

      B.      Share/discuss in groups
                Discuss as a class
                Copy Teacher-led notes (write these ON/next to lines of lyrics)

__  finish MIDDLE AGES HISTORICAL FICTION VOCAB #1 (now past due)
      50 points (through 3 different options)
      * use brainstormed list #2 (completed/begun in class)
      (a) WORD; (b) DEFINITION -- the more detailed, the stronger your grade;
      (c) SENTENCE from the book in which word appears; underline word in sentence
      (d) ICON/simple image that visualizes meaning of the word

      HOW TO SCORE 50 POINTS
      1 Word w/ short definition = 1 point each
      1 Word w/ longer definition/more details = 2-3 points each, depending on # details
      1 Word/Concept that has been researched (1/2 page - 1 page explanation) = 4-8 points
      * the more time and effort put into research and detail, the more points an entry is worth
