3/7 [TU], 2017 - LIBRARY


I.    BOOK REVIEW ROUGH DRAFT
       - write out 5 final plot events (detailed sentences) of your book
               * African American History Celebration Month YA Novel read
       -  write a quick, one-detailed paragraph, rough draft review
       - you can use library time to input into PPS library book review sections (5 points)
          OR you can do this from home.  RD is worth 2.5 points only.

II.  LIBRARY
A.   COPYRIGHTS (presentation/talk)
        - what are various types of copyrights & laws
        - watch brief video of a high school publisher
        - group activity: "Scenarios: What Type of Use" worksheet     

B.    CHECK OUT A BOOK
        - this time all book choices are about kids or people of
          possibly different cultures or backgrounds than your own
        - good stories, however.
                 * be prepared for periodic check ins on reading and memory of book

III.  THE GIVER - CHAPTER 18
        - SSR read; answer Margin Questions (quick, to the point answers this chapter)
        - CORNELL-STYLE NOTES ON SIGNIFICANCE of GABRIEL's name
        - teacher read aloud first two pages of CH 19 (critical chapter; story reaches crescendo/peak)

__   begin to read current HOME READING BOOK (20-30m 4x per wk/1 hr min. on weekend)
      * plan to finish in two weeks unless you discuss/negotiate w/ teacher

__  finish HOME READING BOOK (focus on African American/Black experiences) - PAST DUE
__  be prepared to write about and write a review of this book

__  organize ALL CASTLE PAPERS for turn in (PAST DUE if not already turned in)
      - put in order by date oldest on bottom, newest on top
      - staple or paperclip

__  immediate CASTLE MAKE UP opportunity: (PAST DUE if not already turned in)
      research and find the history of a real medieval castle
      create a Cornell-Style Notes of 1-3 pages
      include:  when made, why made/purpose, how made, who made, cost, design,
                      significant events, use today, etc.
