2/15 [WE], 2017 - CASTLES/GIVER ch 10-11

** CASTLE PROJECT DUE MAR 6

I.  CASTLE PLANNING CHECK IN
* most important part of this project is understanding "project management"
A.   - quietly review instructions and your notes
       - where R U in this process right now? be specific; (partner sharing)
        - PARTS LIST QUIZ (using packet info, vocabulary list, your own research)
       - you should, at this point, be able to name at least 10 or more castle parts
       - this is initial research; more than 30 castle parts & design elements are in Rdng Pckt #1
       * review as a class essential parts list; write down parts on back you did not list in your quiz
B.    - brainstorm materials you would or could use for each part you have listed on your quiz
       - add parts from other student lists
       * use your instruction packet sheet (last page), which gives you ideas
       * this forces you to use your instruction packet for ideas/reviewing


II.  THE GIVER chptr 10-11
- review story so far
- SSR CH 10-11 (stop at end of chpt 11)
- teacher - led notes
- brief overview of Plato's Allegory of the Cave

* answer Margin Questions (if you have time)
   CH 10 -- your choice of Q's; one page only (no more)
   CH 11 p. 81 # 1 ,  2         (one page only)

HOMEWORK - focus on Castle planning & VOCAB (due next Tuesday)

 ___  review Castle Packet Instructions
___   research (if you can) examples and parts and materials online
___   start to think about parts and materials for those parts

___  continue 20 CASTLE VOCAB #1, w/ a focus on caste parts words (due TU, 2/21)
        (a) word; (b) detailed definition & explanation, description, or function of part;
        (c) a small drawing of the shape of the object to help conceptualize how it looks for castle
