4/5 [TU], 2016 -- POETRY SCRPbk & KNIGHT'S TALE

SCIENCE FAIR DINNER (Ashland Fundraiser) THURSDAY
 * Need T-shirt Sizes this week for those going to Ashland
  * time to commit for sure for Ashland (cancelling tickets 4/11)



I. MULTICULTURAL POETRY SCRAPBOOK 
-  create a list of significant moments (separate sheet of paper)
-  create an adjective-noun list and an adverb-verb list (back side of paper)
- read as a class "Cimmeria" by Robert E. Howard (illustrated comic form poem)
- note how words are used; how adjectives impact mood/tone

- CREATE A "Cimmeria"-like "I Remember" poem (rough drafts)
- may change to I wonder, I won't remember, I hope, etc. to fit your story/mood/character


III.  continue KNIGHT'S TALE starring Heath Ledger
* Medieval culture while you read a multicultural book

- Opening Notes (teacher provided/modelled)
-  Crossroads/significance of 13 Florins/ similarity to William the Conqueror
- TRAINING scene: what do we learn about our character's character?

- Geoffrey Chaucer (real historical figure)
- bares truth with his pen; its how HE jousts, fights
- need for "patents of nobility"
- Road to Rouen pun (ruin)

___  consider beginning/start writing SENTENCES on 1st half of Multicultural Book
        * use words from the Current Events article (it's obvious which to use) - Due Mon.
        * sentences for CE article ABOUT your Multicultural story

___  start reviewing and starting Current Events Op Ed Questions (due Monday)

___  start/plan 2-3 more Rough Draft Poems (final booklet due April 22)
       * any poem form we review/work with in class should be part of your book
       * definitely need an I Am poem for your main character, an Acrostic Setting,
           and an acrostice or I Am poem for a supporting character.
