2/3 [WE], 2016 - CHARACTER ANALYSIS (writing)

I.  TOY STORY CHARACTER ANALYSIS
- read SSR
- discuss/answer questions on overhead
- use quotes from text; no "I think" answers

II.  CARS CHARACTER ANALYSIS
-  review the main characters who change in Cars (Doc, Lightning, Radiator Springs)
- what are they like at the start, what begins to change them, how do they change
- what is the change, new lesson learned, something realized at the end?
- group share/discuss

- CHOOSE CHARACTER TO WRITE CHARACTER ANALYSIS ON
- List what character is like at the start (short)
- What is the change by the end?
- What is the lesson or theme that both the character and viewers learn?
- begin to draft your THESIS STATEMENT
* use examples of two Character Analyses at your desk as you write

- REVIEW YOUR NOTES
- look for phrases, words, notes, descriptions you can use in your essay
-  begin writing
- be sure your introduction and title sounds like our examples
- use their structure; academic language (take note of common language in examples)
* THIS IS NOT HOMEWORK.  This is a structured, guided, timed, one-shot quick write in spiral
