EMERGENCY BUS PROCEDURES practice TODAY

I.  MINI ILLUSTRATED BOOK CHECK IN #1
- discuss your subject at your table:  who, where, when, what you know, etc.
- write in essay/paragraph form on a PIECE OF BLANK LINED PAPER
- rewrite the question INTO a statement
- one (1)  full page, minimum

1.     WHAT DID YOU THINK/WHAT WAS YOUR REACTION WHEN YOU FIRST RECEIVED THE MINI ILLUSTRATED BOOKLET ASSIGNMENT?

2.     IF THIS ASSIGNMENT COULD BE DESCRIBED AS AN ANIMAL, WHAT KIND OF ANIMAL WOULD IT BE?  WHY?  EXPLAIN, GIVE DETAILS.

3.     WHAT IS THE FIRST THING YOU DID TO START THIS PROJECT?  EXPLAIN IN DETAIL.

4.     WHO IS THE HISTORICAL FIGURE YOU CHOSE AND WHY DID YOU CHOOSE THAT INDIVIDUAL?

5.     HOW DID YOU APPROACH READING ABOUT YOUR HISTORICAL FIGURE?  WHEN DID YOU START READING?   HOW MUCH DID YOU READ EACH DAY OR DURING WEEKENDS?  DID YOU DO ANY EXTRA RESEARCH?

II.  MIB VOCABULARY #1
 * last week you were to create a list of vocabulary words from 1st half of your reading
- 20 VOCABULARY WORDS due by FRIDAY
- typed or in MIB page format
- must have:
        (a) VOCABULARY WORD (strong, colorful, specific to era/field, NOT generic)
        (b) WORD PART (in parentheses)
        (c) DEFINITION
        (d) CONTEXT explanation of how word fits into the life or world of your subject
        (e) SENTENCE in which word appears (with "quotation" marks)

* does NOT have to be in alphabetical order (this time)

III.  MIB CHAPTER BREAKDOWN
- list ideas for how to break down chapters (but also READ the instr. packet)
- birth, death (obvious chapters)
- early childhood, education, first jobs or tasks, marriage and children, major moments in life
- battles, wars, struggles, awards, recognitions, losses, defeats (anything that "marks" a person's life)
* each chapter will have it's own original title, UNLESS it's generic (and anyone can use)

__  begin chapter breakdown & start 1-2 chapter rough drafts (5 due by FRIDAY)
      * a list of points/facts/details that you know you will use can also count as a RD
         for grading purposes
