I. SPRING BREAK chatting
- sit where you like
- share 10 things you did over the break
- count off/switch table groups
- share again
- share as a class - note common/banal every day versus adventure or trip
- anything counts doesn't haven't to just be a trip; going to mall; binge watching a series...
- left-hand side of LA spiral list out 10 things you did over the break
* use half of the page (T-chart format)
reading/writing with detail & focus activity
II. CAST IN CONCRETE
- read article silently and answer questions on back
- show WHERE you got the answers by underlining (write out number of question)
- when finished, grab a blank lined sheet of paper and CREATE AN OUTLINE of article
- what is the main idea of each paragraph and what "points" did the author want to make?
* copy modeled first paragraph from overhead
* you won't finish outline for every paragraph
III. formal, organized SPRING BREAK QUICK WRITE
- select one of your topics from the Spring Break list you wrote
- create a quick outline of "points" you want to make sure you make
* use other side of T-chart space on that page
- begin writing your Spring Break story.
- First paragraph is an overall description of the break (summarize your list)
* statement about this break, then description ofvarious things you did
- then zero in on one particular trip, journey, activity, adventure
* No more than two-pages long
* FOCUS ON CLEAR (guided) introduction and CONCLUSION
