FOCUS ON YOUR SCIENCE FAIR BOARD RIGHT NOW!!!
7th Grade hosts a FUNDRAISER -- SCIENCE FAIR DINNER
- will need parent volunteers

using resources/reading for information
I.    JOUSTING search and find
- relax and warm up with search & find
- box ALL jargon or vocab words related to topic (show ability to recognize)
- underline key detail words (but not all words, be selective)
- fold in portion of paper and create list of notes from S&F, both text and visual
* be selective-- do not underline everything!
* turn in when you are ready for a grade


reading for information/selectively taking notes
II.  HISTORY OF JOUSTING article
- read article silently first
- begin notes in SS Spiral
- copy teacher model notes (overhead) first, then continue on own until stopped


III.   begin KNIGHT'S TALE starring Heath Ledger (teacher version/ NOT full version)
- purpose of using rock and roll music (Queen) to open movie
- plot, setting, character traits at start of film
- use dialogue to note/recognize themes/major ideas, etc.
- several themes that come up quickly:
          * blunt language versuse flowery language (purpose/class distinction)
          * base needs (hunger, physical, etc.) versus transcendental (spiritual, moral, etc.)
          * social hierarchy/order of classes in middle ages (you stay in your place)
          * what is an "American Sensibility" when discussing film or literature?
     * notion of stars as bound/set or the idea of destiny
- note: crossroads, punishment for breaking social rules, history of first knights
- WHAT IS A KNIGHT?
- CAN YOU  BE BORN A KNIGHT OR CAN YOU BECOME A KNIGHT?
