I.  HOMEWORK CHECK IN
* unfortunately, many in first core were unprepared
* many forgot or did not do Vocabulary HW
* we were unable to share, discuss, correct as a result; work time instead.


II.  ADJECTIVES worksheet/review
- work together; discuss, label all words nouns, verbs, adjectives, adverbs
- show reading of instructions by boxing verbs, underlining details
   show that you know WHAT you are supposed to do
- show reading of examples and rules
  "you can't say 'I don't understand' if you haven't tried to read the rules and examples"
- find examples of adjectives and adverbs used in Outsiders
- can we see any patterns or begin to notice her style?
- mention of Hemingway (minimal use of adjectives and adverbs) and Faulkner (heavy over use)

I.  OUTSIDERS - chpt 4
- review story so far; review questions so far (quietly)
- read Chapter 4 -- critical event chapter
- note realism (and purpose);
- shift from "greaser" to "hood"
- how do Dally and Darry suddenly resemble each other
- what is the irony of PB and Johnny's plan (where they go?)
* if you finish early, complete parts of spiral still incomplete
