DUE:  ROUGH DRAFTS for all nine chapters of MIB (mini illustrated booklet)

           Each chapter worth points.  Roughs will be just that -- rough, sloppy, messy
           Rough drafts give you something to work with, to revise, change, correct
           * for viewing only, teacher will not keep
           * show me rough drafts between now and Tuesday for full points
           * rough drafts are a separate grade in Synergy gradebook (will be on progress reports)

I.  VOCAB WK 1 - intro to new vocabulary
     PREQUIZ
     * full participation points for trying and guessing at all times
     * incorrect answers do not count against you;  you'll correct later

1. words (become familiar with new word)
2.  guess spelling (best of ability, building familiarity and awareness)
3. hear word in sentence (start to put it into context)
4. guess word part as you think about where word was in sentence, its function
5. guess definition based on context of sentence, 2-3 words only
6. guessing the word part (n, v, adj., adv, helps determine definition)
7. correct spelling, using packet (or teacher walk through on overhead)
8. glance at definitions in #6-10 matching section to see if you have any similar definitions

Complete Day 1 of Week 1 of new vocabulary packets in class.

* This week the vocabulary is ALL teacher led & modelled
* vocab homework is the MIB glossary this week

 II.  MIB - review of plan for week
- begin final copies
- you should have YOUR idea of how to publish
- paper available from Gentile by end of day
         copy and legal paper cut into halves
         will paste onto colored paper to create booklet
- handwritten or typed is YOUR choice
   * place blank lined paper under copy paper to see lines; don't draw lines on paper
- map this week is ATLAS HW
- glossary words is this week's VOCAB HW (rd is worth points)

III.  FAMILY TREE - chapter 9
- choices, making choices
- shifting personality of main character (lies/hiding information)
- shift in Papa's reaction
- "If you crack the window an inch or a foot, the cold air still gets in."
