I.  ADJECTIVES - grammar review
- show you've looked at the definition and examples;
- box key terms, underline key details

- show you've read the instructions;
- box verbs telling you WHAT to do; underline key details clarifying instructions/verb
(i.e. in the above line you'd box the word "box" and underline the word "verbs")

- walk through exercises 1-2 with teacher; label nouns, verbs, prepopsitions
- helps you muddle through grammar and find the right answer

- work in groups, discussing answers; teacher will walk through answers 1-7;
- teacher will look at last three as independent work

II.  I AM - Family Tree pre-reading
- review I Am Poem format
- review two sample poems (look over)
- quick rough draft of a personal I Am Poem in LA Spiral
* looking for more detailed writing than in past years;
* every line must convey an image you can see in your mind's eye
* when you are done, work on homework or MIB until others finish

III.  FAMILY TREE, chapter 1
- Answer questions while we read out loud
- Take note of how author develops narrator (teacher led)
- Take note of how author reveals character's personality (teacher led)
