CASTLE project - RUBRIC/SCORE GUIDE

CASTLE SCORE RUBRIC                   

Score the following elements of your castle based on a scale of 0-5:
0 = not there/non-existent;
1 = very sloppy, but there, although lacking detail or clarity
2 = recognizable, but could use a great deal of revision  and detail;
3 = recognizable, some detail, not quite an A, but definitely better than a C;
4 =  neat, detailed, recognizable, clear part;
5 = outstanding, above and beyond, creative and original, highly detailed.  Has a
      “wow” factor.

__   Banner or Flag (some identification on the castle)
__   Outer curtain (outer wall fortification)
__   Inner Bailey (also called a ward, the "yard" portion of a castle inside the walls)
__   watch towers (1 for each corner)
__   battlements
__            w/ crenellations and merlons
__   main gatehouse/barbican (w/ 2 towers)                                   Scale of 1-10
__   portcullis/ drawbridge                                 OVERALL CREATIVITY:    _____
__   moat or ditch (even if drawn)                                        Scale of 1-10                          
__   The Keep (Great Hall/Donjon)                     OVERALL NEATNESS :     _____
__   well/water source
__   chapel -- even if you can only see the symbol of where it would be
                -- such as stained glass windows or a decorative cross
__   arrow slits / windows drawn or built into lower levels
__   wider windows in upper rooms of Great Hall/Donjon
__   barracks/garrison
__   postern (rear) gate
__   garderobe (tower lou)
__   solid/firm base with colors or markings to indicate ground, crop lands, etc.
__   stables
__   Inner curtain with watch towers (a second set of walls)
__   kennels and/or falconry house (place to keep dogs or falcons)
__   smithy (blacksmith’s work area – would not be enclosed!)
__   kitchen (some were outside and adjacent to the Keep)
__   parapets/walkways along the outer and inner bailey walls
* if you are unable to tell what a building is, you can guess.  Obviously, it will not be worth a full 5 points.
