I.  THE GIVER - analysis/discussion
- discuss your name or listen to others discuss their names
- Cornell-notes on significance of : ASHER
- start Cornell Notes on significance of: LILY


II.  THE GIVER - CH 5-6
- SSR read up to end of chapter six
- or, focus on a Giver Letter for each chapter from 4-6 (3)


* VOCAB WEEK 20 SENTENCES ARE OPEN-TOPIC
- focus on using words correctly, showing you understand meaning of word
- review example sentences from packet to make sure you are using words in a similar way
* YOU MAY ALSO WRITE SENTENCES ABOUT YOUR NEWS ARTICLE IF YOU CHOOSE

HOMEWORK -- plan and organize your week; a little each night
* * * *
__  read "Black Boxes in cars raise privacy concerns" (Oregonian, 12/7/12)
      20 facts or details (things you understand from the article) - DUE FR 5/17
      * complete title; neat, detailed facts, organized writing (typed or written)
      * After you have your facts, write a quick summary on top half of backside of article;
         write your opinion on bottom half of backside of article.

___  complete VOCAB WEEK 20 in a timely manner
        - DAY 1 complete in class MO
        - DAY 2 complete at home MO night 
        - DAY 3 complete at home TU night
        - DAY 4 complete at home WE night  (we'll correct in class on TH)

        * begin SENTENCES once you correct and check answers (each night)
           Try to get a few done early! ! !
        * write sentences with detail and context.  Show that you understand the meaning
           of the word.
        * underline or box the vocabulary word; skip lines between sentences
        * title must include which week of vocabulary (which #) and the topic
