4/29/13 - MO

* * POETRY SCRAPBOOKS are DUE
      will accept Tuesday as "on time,"
      with extra credit for those who turn them in today
      (my compromise on the confusion)

II.  VOCABULARY WEEK 18

- self-correct & work on Day 1

* SENTENCES ARE ON THE FIRST TWO CHAPTERS OF THE GIVER
- focus on using words correctly, showing you understand meaning of word

III.  FAVORITE MONTH
- quick write (leads into first chapter of The Giver)
- silent read about; share; look at openings and closing;

IV.  THE GIVER - CHAPTER 1
- read
- list "odd things about chapter 1" in LA Spiral
- today, read with no introduction; we'll discuss book next reading

HOMEWORK -- plan and organize your week; a little each night

      20 facts or details (things you understand from the article) - DUE FR 5/3
      * complete title; neat, detailed facts, organized writing (typed or written)

        - DAY 3 complete at home TU night
        - DAY 4 complete at home WE night

        * begin SENTENCES once you correct and check answers (each night)
           Try to get a few done early! ! !
        * write sentences with detail and context.  Show that you understand the meaning
           of the word.
        * underline or box the vocabulary word; skip lines between sentences
        * title must include which week of vocabulary (which #) and the topic
