3/8/11 - TU

* moving into the crux (focal point/main theme part) of OUTSIDERS this week, as well as moving from castles to KNIGHTS, CHIVALRY, and HERALDRY


I.  KNIGHTS - preview
- cue cards (chunking information)
- read cue card silently; everyone reads aloud at once
- read cue cards #1-4/summarize with others; trade cards while reading
- find same number cards and sit at that table
- quickly review cards #5-8 for facts
- complete group quiz, sharing information/details


II.  KNIGHTS - frame/outline information

- read article
- preview frame and figure out how to start organizing notes
- fill in "topic," leaving "So What?" for end
* complete at home if you don't complete in class

III.  KNIGHT'S TALE - intro
- background info; concepts of "changing stars"
- class structure; nobility versus serf/peasant
- Southern Gentlemen/gallantry and manners
   used to compare to Greasers
