language arts/vocabulary
I.   VOCABULARY TEST - morphemes & word parts
- open pckt test
- use BOX and UNDERLINE study strategies!
- students were instructed to box key words, terms & instruction
- then were asked to underline key definition words or instruction details
* is supposed to help reinforce strong reading skills and enhance study techniques
* discussion of what's working or not working with Vocabulary/study habits
- self-correct & complete latin phrases "challenge" section
- self-grade effort and work on packet

reading/speech
II.  BOOK REPORT #2 - group book talks with pictures
- students present novel stories
- use pictures to help explain various story elements
- group members score depth of knowledge of elements and story

reading

III.  OUTSIDERS - values introduction

-revisit the concept of "Values" since we just completed book talks where
 values was a concept asked to be discussed in novels.
- Values in the Outsiders are such things as friendship, wealth & class superiority,
anti-authority, the value of education or the distaste for education, the importance of appearances in determining identity or toughness, etc.
