** WELCOME BACK FROM SPRING BREAK!!! **
**  END OF THE THIRD QUARTER **
** NO SCHOOL MONDAY (teacher grading day) **
** SPIRIT WEEK THIS WEEK !!! ** 

******  MONDAY, 4/1  ******

I.  SPRING BREAK 2019 SHARE
    A.   - discuss at table anything you did over the break
           - pushing the limits, here folks, asking students to TALK

    B.   - get out a separate lined sheet of paper
          - TITLE:  "SOME OF MY CLASSMATES' SB 2019"
          -  Note format only:
              (1) Left side __ name  __ verb __ simple sentence
              (2) Right side 4-5 details (brief, quick, key words, NOT sentences)
          - fill out both sides (up to four students per each side, eight total)
          ** focus on students you know or talk to the least!!!
          ** students you know the most/best count against your score

     C.   - new seating chart; now share w/ anyone at your table
              who you did not talk to previously
         
      ** NO VOCAB OR READING HW MONDAY NIGHT!!!
      **  FINISH UP MU or EC (TUESDAY LAST DAY FOR TURN IN)

I.  NEW SPIRALS
    A.   - carefully remove unused paper from old spirals (we'll use it all)
    B.   - label and set up new spiral

             ___ NAME, SUBJECT, PER (upper left, back cover)
            ___  TABLE OF CONTENTS PAGE (first 3 pages)
            ___  "OUTSIDERS PRE READ VOCAB" pg. 1
                     three lines per word
                     number and box each vocabulary word
                     write the vocab words in all CAPS
     
     C.   - write out all of this week's VOC WORDS (see format above)
           - show an example on overhead (for students to complete)
           - work on words/definitions until end of class



******  WEDNESDAY, 4/3  ******

I.  GRAMMAR REVIEW: "INTRODUCTORY PHRASES & CLAUSES"
    A.   - walk through title, make notes, figure out what words we don't know
    B.   - walk through instructions and examples
              BOX key verbs, UNDERLINE key details (to help understand what to do)
    C.   - teacher walk through #1, students work quietly on #2-3
          - continue in table groups - share, discuss, complete worksheet
             * MUST ALWAYS SHOW WORK
          - finish at home for higher grade (turn in tomorrow)

I.  new SPIRAL ORGANIZATION
    A.   - walk through pages; ADD titles of pages we WILL be doing
    B.   - character name pages, PB at start of novel, Opening Events page, etc.

I.  ALL ABOUT ME - key words list
    - in spiral

    - relaxing day of self-focus/introspection
      * this WILL relate to the novel later on
    - write down, jot specific, key words all about you
    - the more important the item, the larger the word
    - include some images if you can/want to
    - rough draft page (your on the spot design)

     SOME CATEGORIES:

EXAMPLES (freebies to copy!!!)
 *********************
RAPSCALLION:  A rascal, scamp, or mischievous person; someone who is always messing around, not quite evil or intending harm, but still a rogue and a scoundrel.

LACONIC:  Someone who can say a lot in only a few words; someone who doesn't talk a lot or gives only brief, concise responses. A person who uses the least words possible to say something.  (Definitely NOT Mr. Gentile!!!)

GARRULOUS:  The opposite of laconic. Someone who talks excessively, above and beyond what's needed.  Someone who rambles on about everything and anything, but usually isn't saying anything deep or important, trivial talker.

SCINTILLATING:  Scintillate is the verb form, which means to emit (give off) a sharp, bright, light.  To sparkle, shine, gleam, glitter, or flash.  "Scintillating" (n) is anything that is bright and shiny, emitting glittery light.
