SOCIAL STUDIES DAY

I.     discuss THE WORLD PONYBOY LIVES IN
     - how would you describe his world?


II.  going back to THE MEDIEVAL WORLD
       A.   PREREAD/PREVIEW THE TEXT
             - using our textbooks, what do we know about Medieval life
                from the bold-faced subtitles and vocab words
                * quick skimming activity
                * think about what you learn from the bf words
                   AND how much information you have to work with
                * try to start organizing information/notes in your mind as you preview

         B.  SUBTITLE/BF notes from text (QUICK NOTES)
               HA: CH2, 4 (skip 3)
               2-pages only in SS Spiral
               turn all bold-faced titles and some vocab into a statement
               you might have to glance at text if subtitle is too vague
               ("Trade & Commerce," for instance)

III.  GROUP POSTER WORK - MEDIEVAL LIFE
               - create STUDY POSTERS/QUICK GUIDES of a section
               - read first
               - work with partner on assigned section
               * each partner also (first) creates a poster rough draft IN SS Spiral
