I.  LIBRARY BOOK (African American Characters)
     - BOOK TALK #1
      - students listen to each other talk about Character, Setting, Opening of the book
     -assess others AND self-assess yourself


II.  CASTLE BACKWARDS PLANNING
A.     - CHECK CALENDAR - month at a glance in tracker
            how many days are left to work on this project?

B.      - FOLD A PIECE OF SCRATCH PAPER 3 times in half
          = 8 boxes
          - "Castle Project To Do" in first box w/ your name
          - each box labelled w/ date in upper left or right corner

C.      BACKWARDS PLAN
          - imagine and list every step up to bringing it in
          - including how to bring in; how to cover; asking parents for help driving castle in
          - share in groups after quiet brainstorming; share as a class

III.  DAVID MACAULEY'S CASTLE, video notes
          - again, taking notes w/ purpose: parts and history of castles
          - today's focus: why castles faded or what happened to the Age of Castles
          * QUICK WRITE: focused quick writes using notes
              (a) overview of history of castles; (b) A castle under siege

HOMEWORK -- focus on finishing READING BOOK and  CASTLE PROJECT

       - be prepared to talk about literary elements/book each day, if we do that
