12/13, [TU], 2016 - FEUDALISM essay

 * $$ 6.00 for Change Drive (2 for snacks on Friday/4.00 for Change Drive)
* if there's snow on Thursday/Friday, we'll have snack day when we return

I.  FEUDALISM EXPOSITORY ESSAY PRE WRITE
- review notes (quietly/on own)
- discuss in groups "what is Feudalism and how does it work?"
- review notes and circle key words you'd definitely use IN your essay rough draft
- on a separate sheet of paper, write list of words you'd use in essay
  use previously circled words
   * try to:
  skip lines or indicate paragraph breaks
  capitalize key terms that have to be defined or are the subject of a paragraph

II.  WRITE FEUDALISM EXPOSITORY ESSAY
- 1-2 pages in Social Studies Spiral
- skip lines between paragraphs
- leave plenty of margin space for revision/addition notes
- if finished early, read aloud in head to see how it flows
- make changes if necessary, while others finish
- lightly circle words that might be misspelled and need to be checked

III.  REVIEW ROUGH DRAFT/QW ESSAY
- again, make sure spelling considered and flow is checked
   (how does it sound IN your head)
- if it doesn't flow, what does it need to make sense

- review and ADD appositives, "descriptions" or added details
  to a word or term that might not be clear or needs enhancing
  * separate with commas

- look for generic VERBS that could be  changed into stronger, more vivid language
- look for nouns that could benefit with an adjective or two to enhance meaning

IV.  review POINTS MADE
- teacher looked for 10 or so essays on Feudalism for common points
   including from video notes and textbook
- check of points or words made in YOUR essay
* no student fails this QW, however, we're looking now to see how strong was word choice and
   were certain facts and details noted that showed stronger grasp of concept
