* very little time in class to read (except if students finish work early)

INSTRUCTIONS:
(1) As you read, pay attention to words that are
unfamiliar, challenging, colorful, powerful, interesting
or era-specific
(2) create a vocabulary list of 20 words for every
third of the book. * Typed or hand-written.
INCLUDE:
(a) WORD;
(b) part of speech in parentheses;
(c) definition of the word;
(d) the complete sentence in which the word appears. (In "quotation" marks)
(e) page #
(f) a sentence or two more explaining the story and how the word fits into the story
(g) icon or symbol showing definition/meaning of the word (optional for higher grade)

___ Vocabulary #1 (1st 3rd of book) due Monday, Nov. 14
___ Vocabulary #2 (2nd 3rd of book) due Monday, Nov. 21
___ Vocabulary #3 (last 3rd of book) due Monday, Nov. 28

character development, character at start of novel and at end
___ CONFLICT
___ SETTING
___ THEME/LESSONS
