I.  HOW WAS YOUR BREAK (warm up/group discussion)
- QUICK WRITE on how your break went
   (1 pg., left-hand side, LA spiral)
   begin w/ general mention of how you feel break/Thanksgiving went for you
   mention specifically year/holiday or month (not everyone celebrates Thanksgiving)
   no more than one page

II.  "EXPLODE"a moment
- expanding/revising activity
- choose a sentence or moment in your description
- expand upon it: rewrite with extensive details and descriptions
   i.e.  "Uncle John was funny."  -- describe his humor, his jokes, his delivery,
            the way specific people react; tell a story about past years and his humor
           "The food was so good."  List and describe at least three dishes.  Describe the taste.
             explain who ate what, where it was on the table, who made it, etc.

- also go back and ADD an adjective or two that provides greater vividness
   find your nouns and think about adding an adjective to help clarify image
- find a spot to add a metaphor or simile

III.  MIDDLE AGES YOUNG ADULT FICTION NOVEL
- discuss main character (group share)
- physical description
- personality
- internal/ external motivation
- describe what main character was like at start of novel?
- what was main character like at end of novel (what changes occurred?)
* list out details for each of the questions above
* pre writing activity NOT a final essay activity
* you could take this information and create a character analysis
