- use index to look up "vikings" to find all pages that discuss this topic
- READ ACROSS THE CENTURIES txtbk, pages 259-261
* always glance at the paragraph before and after to get a sense of where Vikings fit into text
- TAKE CORNELL-STYLE NOTES (in spiral)

- READ HISTORY ALIVE, CHPT 2, page. 21, 
   "Development of Feudalism in Europe: Need For Security"
- complete a second page of CORNELL-STYLE NOTES
