I.  FAMILY TREE CHAPTER 21
- review previous chapter notes
- write quick 2-3 sentence summary of chapter 20
- (1) how does the chapter open?
- (2) what signficant happens in the chapter?
- (3) what changes, what is learned/noted, or how does the chapter end?

* very quick, succinct, right to the point.  (Much unlike Gentile!)

- READ CHAPTER 21 out loud
- key word list
* take note of how and in what ways our main character is shifting or changing
* what will have to have to happen for us to see a change in our main character?

II.  read EDGAR ALLEN POE'S "THE RAVEN "
* the last two week's vocabulary words have been from Anabel Lee and the Raven
- read poem
- read poem a second time and start to annotate
  make notes on use of words, meaning of words, point out what's happening in poem/plot

* WHAT is happening in the poem? WHO is the narrator? Describe him.
* WHAT is the mood or tone of the poem?
* WHAT does the Raven represent or become in this poem?

     * 11x14 size paper

__ begin SCARY WORDS VOCAB #3 (worksheet due THUR)
     * use word search list to fill in blank of clues
     * read clues and determine which words from word list apply
     * word search also due Thursday, but is only worth 1 point; wksht is worth 5


__  consider doing one NEWS ELA online article due by next week
      * go online to Newsela.com
      * choose an article from Gentile's "Binder"
      * read at YOUR level (or you may challenge yourself)
      * answer all quiz questions and two (2) annotated answer questions
      * ten will be required by end of 2nd quarter, including several we do in class
