show reading by underlining key details to bear in mind
put a box to the left or right of tasks to make sure to include/remember
II. GEOGRAPHY CROSSWORD PUZZLE
- review teacher expectations on how to "show reading"
BOX key words that you might have to define or that have a definition in text
UNDERLINE key words or phrases that give details/definitions of those words
Also underline key concepts and ideas (like note-taking or highlighting text)
- BOX category words in each crossword clue
that indicate the type of word you need for answer
- UNDERLINE the key words that help you narrow down the clue
** struggling readers do not do this and the practice helps strengthen reading skill

- what happened in the story AND what major ideas did we notice or point out
