4/1 [FR], 2016 -- POETRY SCRAPBOOK

SBAC TESTS currently scheduled for MAY 5-6
* Opt out forms handed out.  Please return to office (or teacher, who will turn in for you)

PROJECT HUMMINGBIRD to help support a family in our community

* Donations can be brought in to the office or given to your math or core teachers
* HAT DAY TODAY -- FRIDAY will benefit Project Hummingbird

I.  MULTICULTURAL BOOK POETRY SCRAPBOOK
- review what sub did with I Am poems
- create a word list of as many significant nouns from book - objects, things, ideas, emotions, etc.
- review/go over CINQUAIN poem examples and rules
- using word list, create several CINQUAIN rough drafts
- start with the least complex and simple format first;
- move up to more complex (time-consuming) examples once you feel more comfortable and creative


II.  McBK POETRY SCRAPBOOK (continued)
- read instructions; show reading
- use previously created word list or add new words for preposition poems
- share and discuss examples as a class
- create 3-6 PREPOSITION POEM rough drafts
* all rough drafts are labeled as such and worth a D if that is all a student turns in, neat, stapled together
* rough drafts are to be revised and rewritten later, on your own time

___  read MULTICULTURAL choice BOOK 20-30 minutes; get a good start
        look at number of pages and plan how to finish in 2 weeks or less
       USE WEEKEND TO CATCH UP OR GET AHEAD in your reading

        * write down any questions you might have
        * look up any poem forms you might not be familiar with but want to try out
        ALWAYS REVIEW AND REVIEW INSTRUCTIONS
        LOOK OVER CHECKLISTS ON INSTRUCTION SHEETS
