DUE TODAY:  5 detailed sentences about what was happening on MLK Day; events or activities related to MLK Day

I.  VOCABULARY/ HOMEWORK REVIEW FOR WEEK

II.  CARS continued: THE BIG RACE (finale)
- review where we left off with Doc at a "crossroads"
- Sally had just called him out/accused him of selfishness
- scene shifts to LA International Speedway for the 3-way
- pay attention to video/dialogue for phrases to describe final setting
- use words FROM the source/video

- what is Lightning like at the start of this race? What is his state/condition?
- what happens during the race?
- who shows up? what does Lightning now have and how does this impact the race?
- how has Doc's story finally resolved itself?  How is Doc finally healed and a renewed character?
- what does Lightning do at the end of the race?  What does this say about his character, his values?
- how are the King and Doc alike?

- listen to lyrics of song during rolling credits; what is the theme?
- what lyrics can help us understand the point of the movie?

III.  watch CARS DOCUMENTARY: Inspiration for Cars
- pay attention to any information we get that helps us with lessons, themes, or ideas
   writers put into the story (anything we can use for our character analysis)
