DUE TODAY:  MIDDLE AGES BOOK REPORT (see below)

I.  MIDDLE AGES HISTORICAL YOUNG ADULT NOVEL
    (basically, Middle Ages Book)
- review/polish/make sure everything is in order
- Turn in

* reminder that SS Spiral vocabulary words list  will be checked later (by next Monday or Tuesday)
- as you read you were expected to keep a tally of words that were challenging or unfamiliar, colorful, or powerful.  But every day words you might see in a book about any era or genre. (left hand side)
- on the right hand side, you were to show the ability to recognize and record words and phrases that helped an author create authenticity/place, words that fit into the middle ages; archaic or uncommon

- word and page number required
- three columns on each page (1st 3rd, 2nd 3rd of novel, last 3rd of novel).
- definitions were not required

II.  WEEK 4 VOCABULARY
- prequiz (hear words in context, guess spelling and definition)
- correct spelling using packet
- work on/complete Day 1 in class (use step by step directions in tracker)
- Sentences are "open" topic.  Write about something wintry or "Novemberish."

* Only Days 1-2 to be completed for credit THIS WEEK.
* Days 3-4 are for Make Up or Extra Credit (due Monday)


III.  continuing LIFE IN THE MIDDLE AGES: Social Structure video notes
- key word list, paying attention to new topics and shifts;
- Q: How was life in the middle ages NOT simple, as the video implies?
- Q: Who were the "key players" in life in the Middle Ages?
- Q: What was the Feudal Relationship and how did it work?
- Q: What is a Manor and who is a Lord of the Manor?
- Q: How was life and expectations different for Noble Men and Women?
- Q: What was life like for Peasants and Serfs?

___  finish VOCAB WK 4 DAY 1-2 (due Wed)
        * consider writing a sentence or two, open topic/free choice topics
        * as an FYI, it took the majority of students 20 minutes or less to complete most of Day 1 in class

___  review/start reading IRAQ OP ED (will work on this first thing Tuesday)
        * color code all PRO (for the war) in one color, all CON (against) in another color
        * pay attention to facts and details versus opinion

___ plan out/continue SS SPIRAL Middle Ages Novel Word Lists (due next week/Mo-Tu)
