5/20/14 - WE

LATE OPENING

STILL NO HW JUST YET (waiting on 15 more people to finish their Poetry Scrapbooks)

I.  REVIEW TRACKER 
- (fill in, though it's easy this last week)
* PHOTO RELEASE FORMS go home (please have signed for Arts Project & my photos
* Field Day/Jr. Rose Festival Parade Permission forms due!
* Library books DUE!! (some students missing 10 points per day)


II.  POETRY SCRAPBOOK READAROUND
- first glance at covers, then leaf through pages of booklet
- just check it out
- then switch to another booklet, now start looking more closely
- then start looking at Introductions and Endnotes and Maps
* enjoy seeing other people's work, but pay attention to different creative styles
* think about how yours looks; look for similar parts, sections, etc.
* read poems to enjoy and learn about other stories


III.  POETRY SCRAPBOOK ELEMENTS SCORING
- now go deeper into a scrapbook, both to enjoy and analyze structure
- use the form to find various LITERARY ELEMENTS such as similie, metaphor, etc.
- specify which page and poem you found the example
- look for TYPES of poems, note how many different types of poems are included
- look for and check off variety of basic BOOK ELEMENTS  like cover, table of contents, etc.

* you will score your own booklet next day. This activity should make you better prepared to self-score your own work.

* YOU MAY REWRITE ANY SECTIONS YOU SCORE POORLY ON
* SCORES WILL NOT BE HANDED OUT UNTIL YOU SELF SCORE THE LAST ACTIVITY OF TODAY
