3/20/14 - TH

I.  TO BE A QUEEN poem (Mr. Hilberg)
* comprehension/language arts activity using social studies

- what does it mean "to be" something?
- what does it mean "to be" a student?  A successful student?  A failing student?
what is done, seen, acted on, etc.?  What traits or characteristics do you see?
- READ "To Be A Queen" example poem

II.  TO BE A KNIGHT
- using notes from movie, previous readings, your own knowledge and HA text
WRITE rough draft of a To Be A Knight list poem
- indent 2nd lines if you have to use more than one line for an idea (reverse of books)
- do not use -dashes- like a list.  This is a poem.
- write 10-15 rough draft lines, even though you won't use them all

- looking for STRONG, KNIGHT-SPECIFIC LANGUAGE and imagery
- NOT VAGUE; very clearly shows knowledge of middle ages and knights
* this is sort of a test with many right answers, no wrong answers (as long as show knowledge)

- FINAL COPY on 11x14 paper, with title centered at top (landscape)
- color knight and cut and paste onto final "poster" poem
- have colored paper as background for poem
