- group work, relaxed setting
- gnosh a little on snacks here and there

__   Read Classics Illustrated Novel (finish by end of break)
       * students who can have downloaded original novel to read

__  Book Talk with a parent or adult family member (during break)
       * Use scoring rubric to guide discussion
       * really should be a nice, relaxing conversation, though
       * 15-20 minutes time expectation, so not long at all!

__  Classics Illustrated Word Collage - words about the novel (due on return)
       * glue to an 8.5x11 sheet of paper; leave margins around edges of paper
       * using words cut out from the front page sections of newspapers
       * 25 minimum to score a C-
       * 26-50 different words for up to a B
       * must be from newspapers  (you ARE reading newspapers, but skimming/scanning)
       * Bottom line?  Cover the paper; neat and organized or fun and creative -- your call
       * strive for a variety of sizes between the different words
