PARENT TEACHER CONFERENCES:
        11/21  THURS evening
        11/25  MON  all day
        11/26  TUE  until 3pm

I.  TRACKER check in
- make sure everything is written in YOUR tracker
   as you see on the overhead
- notice the patterns; how this week's homework list is
   similar to past weeks


II.  VIKINGS review
- review notes
- label notes to categorize major questions
   who were, what were, when did, why did, how did, etc.
- review how essays and encyclopedia articles can be
   turned into questions

- WRITE ON DEMAND MINI ESSAY following format:
   (1) What was the world like at that time (set up reader)
   (2) When and how did the Vikings appear? What did they do?
   (3) What was their impact on Europe?
   (4) What did Vikings get?  Why did they do what they did?
   (5) How did they achieve such success?  What made their success possible?
   (6) How long were the Vikings around?  When did they disappear?
   (7) What happened to the Vikings and what is their legacy?

* use notes (labeling should now make it easier to find information)
* try to write in a way that sentences flow together
* write what you know, don't focus on what you don't know (don't waste your time)

TEACHER NOTES ON IMPACT OF VIKINGS AND WHERE THEY WENT
= assimilation, conversion to Christianity (from terrorizing to integral parts of society)

III.  intro to FEUDALISM
- Read HA, CHPT 2, pgs. 18-29
- complete Interactive Student Notebook pgs. 12-14
   * preview these pages BEFORE reading
 * NOT HW, but you can take ISN's home if you like

        * 24 SENTENCES due FRIDAY - November/Thanksgiving theme
        * Begin sentences once you know you are sure of word part & meaning
        * Write sentences on a separate sheet of paper with proper formatting

___  review/begin "EUROPE" crossword puzzle (due FRI)
        * text clues is too small to really show reading, unless you can do it neatly
        * use Atlas or Google or other maps to find answers
