I.  TRACKER CHECK IN
- review tracker; homework from previous night
- getting ready for class
- announcement:
   teacher will be gone WE-TH (Sorry.  Family needs.)
 

II.  POWER OF THE CHURCH
- how to find Main Ideas & pick out key details (practice)
- Read Across the Centuries, Ch. 11, pages 280-284
- Pay attention to title and opening paragraph for
   overall topic and "is about" sentence
- Recognize that page 282 is a story, an example of topic
- First frame Main Idea is from the first paragraph, pg.283
* concept of HIERARCHY within Church and how it influenced people
- let each sentence guide you to key details
* notice how first three paragraphs all follow same pattern:
   name of clergy and rank; plus duties or responsibilities

* teacher-guided first few Main Ideas with details;
   students also participate in this process
* remaining Main Ideas and details up to students

III.  LIBRARY 
- check out a free choice book -- could be a Battle of the Books Book!
* next book report is a "Book Talk"
* plan on finishing in two weeks

- read, or work on MIB once you've got your book
