10/25/13 - FR

* * CARNIVAL TONIGHT !!

* * TEAM TIME TODAY end of day from 1:35-2:15
       Study hall for D's, significant missing work or points

* * * * UNUSED ENTERTAINMENT BOOKS MUST BE RETURNED BY MONDAY

I.  SCARY WORDS vocab
- word search/crossword warm up
* will lead into writing activities over next week

II.  GHOST STORY -reading
- review words put up & guess story plot
- read instructions first (what's expected of you?)
- read short story from worksheet
- recognize and underline spooky/ghost story phrases that "paint" picture
- work on own, then in groups

III.  SCARY STORY - writing
- use 10 or more vocabulary words to create a scary scene
- does not have to be a short story, just a scene
- show knowledge of words and word meaning
* if you have looked up words, found sentences, you have ideas now
   about how to use these words

___  finish SCARY VOCAB #1 if you didn't finish

EXTRA CREDIT:  IF YOU GO THROUGH A HAUNTED HOUSE
(like Mr. Young's haunted house at the carnival tonight) PRETEND IT'S PART OF A STORY.
WRITE A DESCRIPTIVE, SCARY STORY  IN WHICH SOMEONE GOES THROUGH A HOUSE.  Describe the walk.  How you felt.  The noises.  The smells.  The visuals.  What do you see in this house?  Why are you there?  What are you looking for?  It's like Hansel and Gretel, only far far more scary.
