9/24/13 - TU

I.  ANCIENT ROMAN EMPIRE
- review chapter one History Alive chapter 1
- group share/discussion (facts/details)
- read Across the Centuries on Fall of R. Empire
- look up in Table of Contents and in Index
- take quick, short notes on new text (in SS Spiral)
- short, clipped facts (10)

II.  ROME POME
A.
- review instructions and format
- two needs: (1) easy to read in halls;
  (2) facts/details on every line
- write one rough draft on Ancient R. Empire (who, what, how big, etc.)
- write another rough draft on legacy (all or specifically one topic)
- must fit in space provided on sheet; every line teaches us something;

* rough drafts give you something to work with;
* what do YOU think a poem should look like?  (struggle with this a little)
* use teacher model on overhead as an example

B.
- After at least two rough drafts, choose one and create a 2nd draft on back of model
- does it fit?  Do you have too many or too few words?  How large is your text?
- think about it from a design perspective (how does it 'look?')

C.
- Begin final draft, neat, organized, fits (no spelling errors - already caught)
* won't finish by end of class
* will finish on Thursday
* NOT HOMEWORK
