*  CONGRATULATIONS ON 7TH GRADE WINNING CANNED FOOD DRIVE

GRANDPARENTS DAY TODAY

I. TRACKER review / READING check in
- score last week's tracker
- write one page reading adventures journal on back side
- include/mention ALL reading over last seven days
- try to be conversational; if you didn't read, write about what you did, instead


II.  read poem "Fast Rode The Knight" by Stephen Crane
- read once, then read again and answer provided questions
- look at wording and style;  ANNOTATE/write on poem and mark up words
- make points, ask questions, make comments
 * What is the poem about?  What is the tone?  What are significant or powerful words?
* How does the tone change?  Is there any symbolism in the poem?
* What is a reader supposed to think at the end?

III.  OUTSIDERS - the Rumble
- read up to page 140
- teacher will read pages 141-145 out loud
* second core will have to catch up next week
