I. MIDDLE AGES HISTORICAL FICTION QUICK WRITE
- Think about the characters in your book and your feelings or reactions towards them
- Start off by writing about the types of characters we'd find in this book
- Remind us of the author's name and the title of the book
- Focus in on a particular character you liked or didn't like
- Write about how you related to this character - reactions to, feelings toward
- End with how you think YOU would do as a character in this book
   or maybe how you think your chosen character would do in today's world

II.  GEOGRAPHY of the MIDDLE EAST
PART ONE
* focus on note-taking; building for a mini-essay (prep only)
* focus on 3x5 notecard-size notes
- read History Alive, Chpt. 7, Section 7.2, pg. 76
- teacher-led example of quick, brief notes on section 7.2
 PART TWO
- students read one of assigned sections (7.3-7.6)
- read first; read 2nd time and take quick, brief notes; essential ideas
- share in groups; glean/take information from other students for all sections

III. GEOGRAPHY of the MIDDLE EAST part 3 - the mini essay answer
- using only your notecards, write a quick, short, detailed answer to the following:
"How was the Arabian Peninsula such a significant region and what are the various
characteristics of the geography?"
* each time we've taken information and condensed/distilled essential ideas and details
* you cannot use the entire card each time; only bits and pieces from each card
* no more than one page answer

___  ATLAS/MAP STUDY: 20 Facts about setting of your Middle Ages Book
         • Write 20 thoughtful, detailed statements on any aspect of the region your book takes place in
            - can be about what kind of modern day government is in that region or country;
           - can be about size, geography, climate, agriculture, types of people
           - you just have to put in the time reading or looking at maps and making observations
         •  work on during week; PLAN your time; turn in FRI
         • NEAT, LEGIBLE, PROPER FORMATTING, WITH A TITLE
     * Use Atlas, go online, read encyclopedia articles

        • continue to read book; expectation is 20-30 minutes per night, M-Th
        • Goal was to finish by this Tuesday so that we could complete work in class
