I. FAMILY TREE - CHARACTER ANALYSIS
- discuss characters in book (groups)
- Who changes and how?  What lessons do WE learn, as readers?
* prep for Character Analysis to be written in spirals

II.  SAMPLE CHARACTER ANALYSIS
- read quietly 1-2x
- answer questions (group discuss)
 * significance of reading example essays for ideas, guidance and formatting


III.  FAMILY TREE CHARACTER ANALYSIS
- building on discussion in groups at start of class, choose a character who changes
- begin mapping out/outlining what you want to say and prove
- Choose a character who you feel changes significantly in this novel
* obvious choice is Tyler, our main character
- What is this character like at the start of novel
- how is this character changed by end?
- What lessons do we learn as readers?
