- create a face for bean that represents meaning


III. OUTSIDERS - Ch 1
- QW: How do you "see" yourself?  What is your self-perception
- one to two pages; will tape into new spirals next week

* as with Tyler in FT, self-identity is a major theme of this novel
- teacher read aloud, pages 1-4
* use of eyes to convey meaning
* daydreaming qualities of narrator & "using head" as a theme
