- Write in full sentences.  Include # and A for ACROSS or D for DOWN.

   and include the definition of the word

TO MAKE UP LITERARY LETTERS
- Write a one-page journal of what you read, including your thoughts and opinions
- Do not just give a summary; what were you thinking while you read?
- What were you reminded of?  what did you wonder about?
- What were you feeling?
- what will happen next or what will be the consequences?
- What would you do in the same situation?

** LITERARY LETTERS OPTION #2:  WOULDN'T YOUR PARENTS LOVE TO JUST SIT AND CHAT WITH YOU ABOUT WHAT YOU ARE READING?  I ALWAYS HEAR FROM PARENTS THAT THEIR STUDENTS DON'T TELL THEM ANYTHING, SO HERE'S A CHANCE TO CHAT WITH THEM *AND* EARN POINTS BACK.  WIN-WIN SITUATION.

SPEND 20 MINUTES WITH A PARENT, DISCUSSING WHAT YOU JUST READ IN A BOOK, A NEWSPAPER OR MAGAZINE ARTICLE.  DON'T JUST SAY WHAT HAPPENED OR WHAT THE PIECE WAS ABOUT, DISCUSS IT WITH OPINIONS, QUESTIONS, THOUGHTS (see above questions).  A NOTE FROM A PARENT LETTING ME KNOW WHEN, HOW LONG, WHAT WAS READ, ETC. AND THAT IS CREDIT FOR ONE LITERARY LETTER (FIVE TOTAL WERE DUE).

TO MAKE UP CASTLE POINTS
- research real castles and
(A) write down notes in Cornell-style format;
(B) write a one-two-page report on this castle
(C) create a Power Point report/slide show of your chosen castle

- for more credit, research how much it would cost to travel to see this castle and how one would get there.  Write out instructions or details of how to see and even stay in this castle.
