- warm up with word search
* words that will be spoken/appear in the video today

II.  DARK AGES parts 1-3 of 10
- key word list
- opening is like the introduction of an essay
- sets viewers up for topics to be explored in depth
- review of fall of Rome, consequences of this fall
- life in Europe after fall of Rome was often tough, violent, short
- rise of warlords, the Frankish tribes (barbarians)
- rise of Christian church as a glue to hold together/bind societies

II.  DARK AGES - "Where I'm From" Poem 
-review "Where I'm From" examples; look at form
- think back to poems you wrote in 6th grade about yourself
- notice how there are at least two lines that offer details for each idea
- write a rough draft (no final) "Where I'm From" poem from perspective
   of someone who lived in Europe after the fall
* looking for descriptive, vivid images on each line, using key word list
* No final copy at this stage;  this is NOT homework
* point is to work on fast rough drafts/being quick, efficient writers
