* moving into the crux (focal point/main theme part) of OUTSIDERS this week, as well as moving from castles to KNIGHTS, CHIVALRY, and HERALDRY



I.  KNIGHTS - tournaments
- preview encyclopedia articles
- review boldface subheadings (mini-essays/easy Cornell Notes)
- read subheading section, "TOURNAMENTS"
- create Cornell-style notes
* review as a class/compare with teacher notes
* place into SS Spiral


II.    KNIGHT'S TALE - intro
- continue to view
- IS WILLIAM A KNIGHT?  WHAT IS A KNIGHT?
- We meet love interest; idea of names and importance of looks comes up
- William shows virtuosity in arms (qualities of a knight); also shows mercy
