- huge and constant part of historical narrative from 600's on
- and yet, we have very little knowledge of the subject/people/religion

A. QW:  What comes to mind when you hear or think of the terms "Muslim" or "Islam?"
- write one page, max.  Thoughts, perceptions, images, feelings, stories, etc.
- share with partners, then discuss as classs

B.  Questioning Strategy
- write questions surrounding the word "Islam" * pre-reading strategy

C.  HISTORY ALIVE, CH8, "The Prophet Muhammed"
- read a section; create a Cornell-Style note for each section
- read section first, then review to take notes
* will NOT finish entire chapter; focus on 8.1-8.3
* this is NOT homework, although you could work from home

* did not get to do this with first core; will correct 1st thing Friday
