- read Language Essentials, unit 12, pg. 232- 235
- define (from the book):  phrase, clause, and prepositional phrase
- write in cornell-style notes (all on one page)
- include 1-2 examples for each type provided from the book
- answer questions first
- complete Exercise 1, 2, 3 (group work)

II.  short story:  "Twenty Years" by O Henry
- predict story using words presented in class
- read silently; discuss/answer questions in groups or pairs
