I.  PERSUASIVE LETTER
- write a letter asking for money (quick write)
- discuss rules of fundraising letters
- quiz on proper statements for a fundraising letter
- discuss language use and effective persuasive techniques

* rather than just ask the kids to go out and get money, I like to focus
on this as a writing activity where we study the use of language in persuading
a reader to respond

II.  ROMAN CATHOLIC CHURCH - Medieval Studies
- role of the church in Medieval times as dominant guiding/unifying force
- read History Alive Text CH 3, pp. 31-43; complete FRAME
* teacher-led walk through of Topic, "is about" sentence, and Introduction
